Yes, it’s true! Free Comic Book Day is coming. Ladies and Gentlemen, clear your calender for May 3rd (which is a Saturday just in case you don’t have a calender handy) and make plans to come visit Dark Star in the little charming town of Yellow Springs.

Since we no longer do the new comics business, our Graphic Novel selection has grown and have received many compliments about it from customers themselves. Our back issue comics stock is growing and our clearance comics are worth a glance! Oh! If you give us the secret password… we will lead you to our secret collection of comics even.. who knows!

Now I know that some of you have the question in your mind “But I thought you guys sold your new single issue comics business…. so why?” The answer is simple, we have a hero complex of a true Librarian. We feel like we are champions of literature (and comics are a form of literature after all) and feel that handing out free stuff on this holiest of holy days in the nerd and geek kingdom can help save the children and adults that gave up reading for brain numbing reality tv shows and gaming (but not to say I don’t enjoy gaming myself). I mean, come now, who could pass up free stuff?

Pssst - Just between you and me…. Don’t tell my boss this, but I plan to have some sort of sale to go with this holy day to celebrate… so Shhhhhhhh . I dunno what it will be yet… so come and find out!

Friday Flings are the New Thing!

It’s been a while since there has been an update, so here is something nice and new to get the ball rolling. The Village of Yellow Springs will be having its monthly Friday Fling! What’s that you ask? It is an event that is held every third Friday of the month, where many of the local shops will be open later than usual. In addition to be open later, there is prize to be won! You can fill out one entry form for every participating store you visit, so if you visit one store you get one chance and if you visit two stores your chance double! The prizes change every month, so you could potentially win yourself a nice little get away here for a day or two at the springs motel with a massage to winning a few nice gift certificates to local shops. Who knows what will be up for wins next. Come check it out. As the months go by, there will be more events and activities to go with it!
